Car Seats
In the United States, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death among children (CDC Child Passenger Safety: Get the Facts). Lawrence County Health Department participates in the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes Program, a program under the Ohio Child Injury Prevention Program at the Ohio Department of Health, to provide free car seats to eligible families. Qualifications for car seats include:

-
Child must live in Lawrence County, Ohio
-
Must meet WIC income guidelines (doesn't need to be enrolled in WIC)

At the time the parent/guardian comes to pick up the car seat, he/she must watch an educational video on use of child restraints, proper use and installation of the car seat, and Ohio car seat laws. Under supervision of the Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST), parent or guardian must install the car seat in their vehicle.

To make an appointment, or to have your infant or child’s convertible or booster checked to ensure it is installed correctly, please contact Sherry Prince, LPN, CPST, at 740-532-3962.
