The Lawrence County Health Department (LCHD) has the primary responsibility for protecting the public health of the residents of Lawrence County, coordinating emergency preparedness, and is identified as the lead agency for response to public health emergencies. The LCHD Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Program and the Emergency Response Coordinator has the primary responsibility for coordinating emergency preparedness and response for the jurisdiction.
Lawrence County Health Department works closely with state, regional, local, and community partners to plan prepare, and respond to natural or man-made disasters and for disease investigation and surveillance. Funding from the Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant has helped improve our infrastructure, communication systems, and planning capabilities.
